With Aldi looking to open another store in Salisbury, shoppers in the area have been full of suggestions as to what would make the best spot.
The supermarket chain has already more than 900 stores across the UK and is looking for feehold town centre or edge-of-centre sites suitable for development in six areas across Wiltshire, including the city of Salisbury.
The current store is located on London Road.
Aldi says each site should be around 1.5 acres and able to accommodate a 20,000 sq ft store with around 100 parking spaces, ideally on a prominent main road and with good visibility and access.
Here are 6 suggestions for where the store could go.
Devizes Road/the A360
Readers say an Aldi store near the Fugglestone Red roundabout could ease congestion on London Road and the Southampton Road side of the city
St Peter’s Place development
Some say the addition on the outskirts of the city would be really helpful
Many readers have said an Aldi could serve the many houses built in the Fugglestone area, and could make use of the Imerys Chalk Pit near Quidhampton
Churchfields Industrial Estate
Not far from the station, an Aldi in the industrial estate is easier to get to using different forms of transport.
With many shops standing empty after the last year, an Aldi could make good use of space, providing it meets the chain’s size and parking conditions
One reader stressed that the area would soon have enough housing to warrant an Aldi so they would not have to drive along the dreaded Southampton Road
What do you think? Where would you welcome a new Aldi?
